The excitement that the word 'Friday' engenders has pretty much escaped me since my school days. When you're a mom, with kids at home, one busy day flows into the next without much difference. Of course, Sundays are always special and Saturday meant that Bill was home (hooray!) but, Friday? No big deal. And, when the kids left home, one day really was pretty much like the next, in that I chose what to do and when.
However, now that I've got a 'job' at the mission office M-F, 9-5, Friday has a whole new mystique.. especially the Fridays that we get off at noon. Ah.. the freedom! LOL Don't get me wrong, I love being a missionary and count it a blessing to be able to serve. But, the dress and nylons as daily wear?? Yeah, not a fan. Now Friday afternoons have become 'me' time. Saturdays are cleaning, laundry, shopping.. all the mundane stuff that doesn't get done during the week. But, Friday afternoons are my time to recharge the battery.. surfing the computer, crocheting, reading, watching tv, power napping, blogging... Not particularly 'quadrant 2' activities, but, delicious, non the less. So, here's to Friday afternoons in comfy pants and t-shirt! May those minutes expand. :)

Well written! I too am a big fan of Fridays. That picture is one of my favorites of you three. It just gives you a feeling of the moment. I love you!
ReplyDeleteAmen! Friday's have been a celebrated day for us since Nate got this job. I feel like a kid with how excited I get about the weekend but it's our time together.
