In the Shadow of His Hand

We had yet another experience this week to remind us how carefully our missionaries are watched over. One of our Elders was using a pocket knife to get into the packaging of a new bicycle pump- the knife slipped and went into his wrist neatly severing the artery. His comp administered some first aid by tying his tie around the wound and they went into the restroom of Walmart to try to get things under control. It was such a small cut that neither of them realized at first how serious it was. As they continued to struggle to control the spurting blood another customer in the restroom left to find help and ran right into a member. Long story short they were able to get to a hospital to get him taken care of. Sadly, the medical aid they received there led to even more serious complications, but, again, the right people were there at the right time and after a miraculous surgery he was sent home yesterday with no apparent permanent damage. This is only one of at least 3 other incidents that have happened in the last year where our Elders have been in serious accidents and a member just 'happened' to be there to make sure all was well. One of these was on the reservation out in the middle of nowhere on an extremely low traffic road.. sure enough, a member drove by right after the accident and was able to help get them to safety. It reminds me of the beautiful imagery in one of my favorite scriptures in Isaiah "And I have put my words in thy mouth, and I have covered thee in the shadow of mine hand,.. Isaiah 51:16 Sweet evidences of the Lord's tender mercies.

  1. That is so scary. I'm so glad that everything turned out well for that missionary and that he was protected. Love to hear these stories.

P.S. Love your background. It's super cute!
