I love Conference Weekend!! I can remember loving it even as a child. I have vivid memories of sitting glued to the tv being totally delighted with the beautiful music of the Tabernacle Choir. But most especially I remember the thrill I felt at being able to hear a living prophet and living apostles speak. Its hard to describe the joy of a convert to learn that there really are prophets and apostles living on the earth NOW. I was just 10 years old when we joined the Church but I will never forget how my heart filled with joy to actually hear with my own ears a living prophet- President David O McKay. I am a 'little' older now and have had the privilege of hearing 7 prophets since President McKay but, as each in turn has spoken, I have always felt the Holy Ghost bear that sweet testimony to my heart that truly here is a man who can say with authority 'thus sayeth the Lord'. How blessed we are to live in this dispensation of the fullness of times!
I also love the fact that I know that, wherever we are in the world, at the precise time that I am listening to Conference, so are each of my children with my grandchildren gathered near. There is a very special feeling of unity and family togetherness about that. Another taste of Celestial joy-I love it! So, Fam.. enjoy Conference. I love you. mom
