Wish I could share with you the delicious fragrance wafting my way from the kitchen. We just bought some wonderful herbs to plant in our garden. And, oh, my! Just brushing the leaves brings forth the most heavenly smell! We have basil, lavender, rosemary, and garlic chives sitting on our kitchen counter.. In a few minutes we hope they will be happily settled in the herb garden next to the oregano and thyme that not only survived the winter but flourished. Can I just say, I LOVE having an herb garden?!! And, thankfully, I will soon be into maintenance on this diet and will be able to begin
cooking and enjoying them again. Yea!!
Oh, speaking of cooking.. Our assignment this week for my bread group was a Pesto/Sunflower Seed Bread. Bill says it is his favorite bread so far. We bought a small jar of pricey Italian pesto at Sprouts to put in it and apparently, it was worth it. LOL However, now that I have my very own food processor (Thanks, Chuck and Christi!), I will be able to harvest our basil and make my own pesto this year. How fun will that be?? Last year the basil turned into small shrubs before the summer was over so, if history repeats itself, I should be able to put up plenty of that nummy stuff.
Well, it sounds like Farmer Bill is getting ready to go plant..I do believe Spring has Sprung!

We did it! Our herbs are planted as well as green beans, beets, zucchini and chard. Here's crossing our fingers that we can actually get veggies to grow in this very strange, upside down world of Arizona gardening! LOL
How fun! I would love to have fresh herbs. It might inspire me to cook more.
ReplyDeleteSpring is definitely in the air. I can tell by my raging allergies...arg.
Love you!
Boy do I understand! Its very discouraging to have to buy them in the grocery store- they are SOOO expensive! Come see me in a few weeks and I'll share. :) (Or go buy some plants- they're only $1.98.)
